Understanding the Scope of DigitalStakeout Scan

DigitalStakeout Scan is a managed digital monitoring service that helps identify external threats and exposures across the surface web, social media, and public data sources

This guide provides an overview of what Scan is designed to do, what it does not do, and the important terms that govern its use.

🔍 What DigitalStakeout Scan Does

DigitalStakeout Scan provides:

  • ✅ Continuous monitoring of external risk indicators
  • ✅ Detection of online content tied to exposed personal data, breached credentials, or social mentions
  • ✅ Classification of risks into categories such as Privacy, Reputation, and Cyber
  • ✅ Email alerts and dashboard access to reviewed and validated findings
  • ✅ A fully managed experience with minimal customer input after onboarding

⚠️ Limitations You Should Understand

Like any intelligence process, Scan is not perfect. Due to the nature of open-source content and automated classification, you may encounter:

  • False Positives – Results that may be irrelevant or misleading
  • False Negatives – Risks or mentions that may go undetected

DigitalStakeout continuously improves detection processes, but no system can guarantee 100% coverage or precision.

📜 Terms of Use: CVTA Applies

Your use of Scan is governed by the Continuous Vetting and Threat Analysis Terms & Conditions, which supplement the standard DigitalStakeout Master Subscription Agreement.

Key CVTA points include:

  • No Identity Match Guarantee
We cannot ensure that online identities will match the individual being monitored with complete accuracy.

  • Source Limitations
Coverage may vary by platform and region. Not all websites or networks are accessible for collection.

  • No Data Collection Guarantee
If content is hidden or restricted, it may not be collected—even if publicly viewable in a browser.

  • Spotting Limitations
Risk category tagging may vary in precision. We make best-effort improvements over time based on feedback and new data.

🔐 Legal & Responsible Use

Per the CVTA and applicable laws, the following restrictions apply:

  • No use for employment, housing, credit, or insurance eligibility decisions unless compliant with FCRA
  • No use without consent – the individual must opt-in
  • No use to infringe on civil or human rights
  • All findings must be handled in accordance with data privacy laws and EEOC guidelines

📘 Summary

DigitalStakeout Scan gives you an external risk visibility layer—designed to enhance security, not replace it. It’s a tool for awareness and intelligence, with boundaries rooted in responsible use, legal compliance, and data accuracy.
